Though there are many excellent efforts by community-based organizations to provide alternative education to “at-risk” youth, Give Music was developed to address a service gap. We specifically address youth of color with education that is more attractive to them at face value than the often “glamorous” life they are offered on the street.

Give Music plays a pivotal role in empowering youth by offering culturally-relevant experiences in media, communication, and the concert industry.

As communities grow, youth find themselves grappling with increased economic pressures while navigating the persistent challenges of violence, substance use, and gang activity. Give Music’s signature program Youth aLIVE! offsets these risk factors by providing education and workforce development to at-risk youth in media, communication, and concert occupations to create access points to viable careers.

WHY CONCERT TECHNOLOGY?

The United States Bureau of Labor and Statistics projected an overall increase in concert occupations with an anticipated growth of “6 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations; this increase is expected to result in about 68,600 new jobs over the decade” (BLS, 2022). 

The increased demand does not account for the need to replace workers who permanently leave their positions. On average, approximately 115,800 concert job openings occur each year. All are projected to come from growth and replacement needs.

Give Music, through the Youth aLIVE! program, is well suited to extend learning opportunities through collaborative partnerships to create valued options to violence, substance use, and gang activity that lead to employment and future success.

The Youth aLIVE! program is designed to provide alternative means for youth to gain workforce development and secure the success of their future, using both best practices as well as lived experience to effectively reach our audience.
